Zuckert, Scoutt & Rasenberger combines the dynamism and personal attention of a smaller law firm with the diversity and sophistication of a major international practice. Our practice encompasses roughly a dozen complementary disciplines, including aviation and aerospace, surface transportation, international, administrative, government contracts, employment, tax, legislation and litigation. The firm is located on Farragut Square, in the heart of Washington's legal community.

Although firms of ZS&R's size are generally thought of as "smaller" firms, our lawyers enjoy a distinctly large firm practice. Our major clients include international airlines based in Asia, Europe, South America and the United States, railroads in the United States and Mexico and other U.S. and foreign companies, and our practice involves transactions and disputes throughout the world. In Washington, our practice encompasses presenting cases before federal courts, formulating policy positions with Congressional committees and appearing before administrative agencies on regulatory matters for our clients. We also litigate in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

ZS&R has consciously avoided overexpansion and has maintained a stability deriving from several factors. We have adhered to a policy of controlled growth, centered around the substantive practice areas in which we already have expertise, as well as complementary areas. Our client base and areas of practice are sufficiently diverse so that the firm is not overly reliant upon a particular client or practice area. A management committee carefully monitors firm operations.

Because we value the collegiality and personal atmosphere that a small firm environment fosters, we operate as a true partnership. Our work environment is informal, and our administrative structure is no greater than needed to operate efficiently. We are selective in our hiring, but we also believe that every young lawyer who joins us has the potential to become a partner.
